While the 2017-2018 season is starting to pick up John Calipari is already thinking toward the next season This is nothing new to him as he is one of the master recruiters in college sports. But, could the class of 2018 potentially Calipari’s best recruiting class ever? All of the great teams he has put together over the years, could be outdone by the now seniors in high school. Now who are these guys? Well Marvin Bagley III, Bol Bol, Immanuel Quickley and Zion Williamson could all be part of Big Blue Nation. Although its unlikely they all land at Kentucky, if they do, college basketball better take notice.
Marvin Bagley III
The 6’11 forward is the most prized player in this upcoming class. He will be one of the best forwards to play in college in recent years. Bagley is a big who can do it all. His rebound and shot blocking ablility are all good enough for him to play in college already. Not to mention he is virtually unguardable offensively. He can get to the rim, hit post jumpers and shoot threes, not to mention he’s a lefty. He has all of the makings to be Calipari’s next big man prodigy.
At 7’1 and the son of former NBA player Manute Bol, Bol Bol is another great prospect Calipari could land. Don’t let his size fool you, he isn’t the average seven footer. With unique sharpshooting ability and unreal shot blocking ability Bol Bol is a unique talent. Receiving an offer from Kentucky earlier this summer he definitely has the attention of Calipari. A frontcourt with him and Bagley would be a terror in the college basketball world.
Many consider Quickley the best point guard in the 2018 class. The 6’3 guard has an elite mid range game and After being coached by Calipari in the U19 Basketball World Cup it’s seemed as if Kentucky has been the favorite to land him. An elite shooter and passer he could be an instant leader when he steps on campus. He is also a huge part as in who will land Zion Williamson. The two have said they would like to play together so if that remains true, they could be a force.
Williamson is the high school sensation who has taken high school basketball over. With insane 360 windmill dunks and ability to posterize anyone he is arguably the best player in the 2018. Recently getting offered from Kentucky and getting shout outs from Drake, it seems as if Kentucky is in the driver seat. Potentially joining a backcourt with Immanuel Quickley could make for an explosive offense.
While the AAU season is coming to an end and the high school season almost ready to start these four have big decisions coning up. Look for Calipari to once again have the top recruiting class in the nation next season. BBN get ready, because the class of 2018 could be something special.
