Trevor Lawrence became Georgia’s all-time leader in passing yards on Friday after a 22-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, surpassing Deshaun Watson’s previous record of 13,077 passing yards. Lawrence received a standing ovation from the team and crowd as the game stopped momentarily to celebrate the achievement. Lawrence did not return after halftime, which left Watson’s touchdown record intact, but it is almost guaranteed be broken next game. If that isn’t already impressive enough, check out this stat — Lawrence’s career first half stats alone would have him at fourth in the Georgia state record books for passing yards.

Jaquaze Sorrells is currently committed to Florida, but the 4-star 2019 defensive end wants to enjoy the process and see what other schools have to offer. Clemson is one of those schools, and Sorrells has the Tigers close to the top of the programs he is interested in. Sorrells watches film on all the schools who have offered him. He likes Brent Venables’ aggressive play calling along the defensive line and feels like he could be successful under his mentorship. Sorrels will visit the Tigers for their game against the Seminoles on Nov. 11.

Two IMG Academy stars, Xavier Thomas (5-star defensive end) and Mike Jones (4-star outside linebacker), both committed to the Tigers, will be in attendance for Clemson’s next game against Georgia Tech Oct. 28. The pair are doing their part in helping to land more players in what already seems to be one of the best classes in Clemson history. Thomas, already known for his willingness to talk to other highly rated recruits about becoming a Tiger, has seemed to have rubbed off on teammate Mike Jones. Jones recently asked 5-star offensive lineman Cade Mays, currently a Tennessee commit, to join them in visiting Clemson for the 8:00 game. Clemson has shown interest in Mays, and while he is still committed to the Volunteers, he is starting to rethink his decision.
Several other top recruits will be in the valley this weekend, including 5-star prospects Noah Cain and K.J Henry. Henry is considered a priority target for the Tigers, who are battling Virginia Tech hard for the talented edge rusher. Cain will enjoy his first visit to Clemson. The top running back in the 2019 class, Cain talks with Tony Elliot often and is being pursued hard by the Tigers. Clemson will have to compete with Ohio State, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas, who have all also made the running back a priority target.
