No Monday Night Football or Sunday Night Football for Gang Green
The NFL essentially came to conclusion, realizing that the Jets will not be a very good team. Last year the Jets were awarded two Monday night primetime games. But after last year, putting on two of the worst Monday night games of the season against the Indianapolis Colts, and Arizona Cardinals, it was a no go. They lost by a combined score of 69-13 in those two games. The NFL awarded the Jets one Thursday night showdown with the Buffalo Bills on November 2nd.
Danger after Week 11 Bye
The Jets will most certainly have their toughest stretch of the season after their bye in Week 11. Following that the Jets play games against the Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs both at home. That’s followed by going on the road to Denver and New Orleans. They then come home for the Los Angeles Chargers before ending the season against the New England Patriots. Carolina is due to have a bounce back year and Kansas City beat the Jets by a score of 24-3, intercepting former Jet Ryan Fitzpatrick 6 times in the game. Denver is a tough task for any team on the road. Drew Brees inside the Superdome is also a tall task for any team as well. The Chargers will be a tricky team to know what you’re going to get. With Phillip Rivers at the helm, it won’t make it any easier for the Jets. The Patriots may having nothing to play for at that point in the season. Even with Brady benched, Jimmy Garoppolo may be auditioning for a team to trade for him in the offseason. Don’t expect an easy win in Foxboro starters or non-starters.
Finishing in last place in the division has its perks. With that said, the Jets have drawn two teams who could very well be vying for the first pick the 2018 NFL draft. The Jaguars are a team who everyone has been waiting to breakout any season now. Will this be the year the Jags finally get out of the basement? That remains to be seen, but they do have a nice roster on paper. Cleveland vs. the Jets is a game in prime position where the top pick in the 2018 Draft could be won or lost. Unless magically reinvention by either Sashi Brown or Mike Maccagnan on draft day, expect these teams to bottom-dwell most of the year.
13 of 16 games will be played at 1 PM/EST
Just an odd tidbit. Most of the Jets games will be played at 1 o’clock on Sundays. Jet fans out west are going to be getting up bright and early to watch Gang green play.
